Afternoon Fun
This weekend was a first in a long time for us because we didn't have one single event planned or anywhere to go. For the past couple of months there has been something going on...JB working, birthday parties, hurricanes, out of town events, etc. It was very nice to just be able to relax. We made a trip to Wal-Mart and that is always interesting because we go in needing only one or two things and come out with a basket full! This time was no different in that respect, just more fun. We didn't buy too many extras and they didn't cost that much...were all on clearance. Piper got a light up jump rope...even though she doesn't know how to really jump rope. She did her best but decided it was just fun to flop it around to make it light up. Will thought it was pretty cool, too. Our other purchase was 450 water balloons. For $4.00, JB couldn't pass them up. We thought it would be fun to have a water balloon fight in the back yard and that Piper for sure would love it. She couldn't wait to get home and put on her bathing suit. (A side note - this kid would live in her bathing suit if we would let her!) Anyway, we got home and brought the water hose around to the back porch and got the nozzle on and got to work. Once the water pressure was good we were on a roll. I filled and JB tied the balloons off. We had some misfires with filling them up to full and some defective balloons but got most of them filled and ready for the fight. This is along with Will thinking it was fun to squeeze them in your face to see what would happen. Amazingly enough they didn't bust as easily as he thought they might but we were soaked even before the games started. Piper was very excited and was super into it.
Do you know how long it takes to go through about 100 water ballons? A lot less time that it takes to fill them up. Once again, they didn't pop as easily as we thought. When they didn't pop they hurt so we decided it was best to just throw them at the ground and not try to hit each other too hard. JB and I had just as much fun as the kids...maybe even more. It was fun to just play as a family and enjoy each other. Piper thought that we should all gang up on daddy and "get him." So we did but we got more soaked because he took to us with the water hose!
By the end of it, we hadn't even gone through have the balloons and were freezing cold...especially Will. Dad took them in for a warm bath while I picked up and got dinner ready...ordering pizza was very time consuming. :)
We ended the night by watching Nim's Island and eating pizza on the couch. It was a super fun day and it was something we hadn't done in a long time. It was fun to enjoy each other and let go of all the stress from the week.
We are going to have a water gun fight next!! I bet we all will be on the losing end of that battle seeing that daddy is a pretty good shot.

Name the Lizard
Since the lizard has decided to live with us for a while, we need to name him and since Will isn't talking yet we need some ideas. Piper has plenty of names but all girly...so we need a good boy pet name for the lizard.
Fun facts about the lizard:
* he lives in the bar-b-que pit
* only comes out when Will comes outside.
* will camp out on the window screen to get some grub
* but won't run away when Will comes running up
* sometimes he's brown and sometimes he's green...that wierds Piper out
* seriously think he knows Will's voice
So we need some suggestion!!!

Dancing in the Rain
Thankfully hurricane Ike didn't cause us too many problems when it passed through or much afterwards. Saying that I will post the following pictures. Autumn and Abby came up from Corpus before the storm turned north towards Houston and we were super happy to have them with us. The girls and Will had lots of fun playing in the rain and I didn't think it was too dangerous even though we were in the midst of a hurricane. They were full of energy so it was nice that they could still go outside and play and of course Will had to join in after he woke up from his nap. Saying all that...this was my conversation with Piper Friday night about the hurricane:
P: When is the hurricane coming?
E: It will come through tonight.
P: Is it going to rain?
E: Yes and it will be pretty windy.
P: I want the hurricane to hurry up and come.
E: Soon enough.
P: When is it going to rain?
E: Later, maybe not until the morning.
P: I want it to rain so I can put my bathing suit on and play in it.
E: I can't make it come any faster.
P: Is it raining yet.
E: No, I already told you that it might not be tonight.
P: But I thought it was coming tonight. I want the hurricane to come.
....and so forth. When the kid gets something in her head there is no stopping her persistence on the matter, even if she was the only person in Texas that was excited that a hurricane was coming. She wasn't in the mind set to even understand the concept of how devastating a hurricane could be and how much damage it can do.

Do you see what I see?
What could it be?
The funny thing is that he or she only comes out when Will comes outside...best buddies. :)
